US Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) seal

The Defense Intelligence Agency, or DIA, is the real life intelligence wing of the Department of Defense. It was formed in 1961 under John F. Kennedy in order to assist with the intelligence needs of the Cold War.[1]

In Empress Theresa, OOPS is a wing of the DIA, and the DIA director speaks at the special congressional hearing about Theresa and HAL.
